Kitchen make-over week one!

Hi there friends, I am back as promised with quick pics of our kitchen make-over for week one. The packing was the worst I think, arghh so many boxes!! they are still everywhere as we speak. Luckily we have two large conservatories front and back and a triple garage...they are all full now! Then the new kitchen arrived (not flat pack either) and so more boxes of course.

The first drama was the large van carrying our new kitchen reversing into our drive, he managed to hit the corner of our house...the roof part anyway. That cracked two ridge tiles, some cementing and a piece of guttering. Anyway that is being sorted soon and paid for so....

Then the kitchen fitters (who have been amazing I must say otherwise) managed to knock through to our bedroom as they were knocking all the plaster off etc. That is also being reinstated soon luckily. It was all going well but then the ceiling (which was very old and had been done by my OH years and years ago) was looking unstable....so that had to go too! The good news is we gained about 10" in height!

We had to get the plumber to tidy up pipework behind the sink also and take a radiator off. Other than  that it has all gone to plan lol. These are the pics of the taking apart of the kitchen, boxes everywhere and all the ceiling mess.

Glad to say we are now on week two and the plastering is done, some painting and now the units are going in too...yipee! Managing with my old fridge still, (luckily I moved it to another room)and will have new one in kitchen soon. I have a make shift kitchen in our back conservatory and a new microwave in our lounge lol so am managing.

Anyway come and see what has been happening to my old kitchen.....week two soon ;)

The boxes...old kitchen stuff in boxes and new kitchen stuff too.

The smashing up bit and start of plastering.

Oh, my, this would make for good television programming, Vee! I watch all those home makeover shows where they find unexpected disasters to fix, but not so many caused by the contractor, lol! That was cool that got you a higher ceiling! Your kitchen is very large and you had a ton of cabinets. I can't wait to see the new one!! TFS! Hugs, Darnell

Oh! this brings back memories! UGH!, but you have had so many "experiences" thankfully none that couldn't be fixed and at least paid by "them". It will be fabulous when done, look forward to seeing it. It's a big kitchen!

I sounds like things are progressing steadily, it is never straightforward is it - good to gain the extra ceiling height though.

I love how your boxes are all lined up neatly Viv. You're a woman after my own heart! It's obviously a massive upheaval but the new kitchen -with it's new higher ceiling! - will make it all worth while I'm sure! Can't wait to see the finished room :)
