Twofer cards 'Feathers'

Hi there, just stopping by to show you a couple of cards I made for Darnell's new Twofer Challenge.
I wish Dee lots of luck with her new challenge, although with her amazing DT I am sure it will be a big success ;) The idea is to use the same stamp /die on two different type of cards, how clever is that! I went with a die cut feather and made a Sympathy card and also a Birthday card.

I tend not to use black or grey on my Sympathy cards as I think they are just too depressing for the recipient. I may be wrong but that's my take on it! So I used blue and silver on mine, still keeping it very simple. I was tempted to use a white feather but in the end went for silver. It's all about celebrating a life I think.....well I like to think it is.

For my second card I made a  Birthday card. I used lots of colour and a touch of sparkle above the sentiment and also a few sequins too. Come and have a closer look and see what you think.......

Feather

White Linen card
White Bristol Board
TH Distress oxide inks
Poppy Stamps 'Fluffy Feather' die

Pink card
Clearly Besotted sentiment stamp
Neat & Tangled Clear sequins
Hobbycraft Glitter Galore washi tape
MFT Black Licorice ink
Ranger Perfect pearls

Blue card
Silver card from stash
AltEnew sentiment Painted greetings
AltEnew Clear embossing ink
Wow Silver embossing powder

After blending the Oxide inks I splashed some Perfect pearls
mixed with water on top for shine. Believe it or not the washi
tape does match the ink splashes on the sentiment grrr light
 issues again...sorry!

Your cards are both gorgeous! I really love the idea of celebrating life even through the grief. Your silver feather on the blue inspires rather than, as you said, depresses the recipient. Then you turned around and gave that feather a splash of festive colors perfect for a birthday party! Well Done! Thanks for joining in on the fun over at Twofer Card Challenge!

I agree about celebrating a life, Viv, your sympathy card, with it's lovely glow from the shimmery silver does just that in an elegant and serene way. Your birthday card is bright and fun and so celebratory ... such a fabulous blended background for the softly coloured feather! Thanks so much for playing along with us at Twofer! Anita :)
