Teddy step card

It's week 69 and a recipe this time and we
have to make a card which is......
NOT A SQUARE
nor a rectangle for that matter.
What we're really trying to say is that we want a shaped card.
My second card for 'Less is More'  this week. This time I
made a square shaped  card then folded it in the middle then
two more creases either side. Then I cut a piece from the bottom
using my nesties, (Curved rectangles). I used another nestie shape
( Lacey circles), to make another matt with the main
image ( Teddy Bea -065) on.
I coloured the image using Copics & Promarkers  & added
the usual glamour dust too. I made a label and used a
computerized sentiment, I chalked around that & the
main image too. I used the waste cut off from the curved
nesty as a border at the bottom, first stamping a little with
my grass & plants stamp (Hobby Art Ltd).
I made a little matching bookmark too :)
ps. This is like a step card, photo isn't too clear now I look again lol.

Rag doll cards

Here are my latest  DT cards for 'Beccy's Place'.
Such cute images these rag doll digi 's, I had fun
colouring them too. For the first card I used the 'With love'
rag doll image. I coloured it with Copics & Promarkers, then
added a little glamour dust. I cut the main image with my
oval nesties, then mounted that on a card made with my
blossom nesties. A few punched butterflies using my new
Tonic punches, a few punched leaves ( MS punch) a rolled rose
and a few punched flowers ( Woodware multi punch) complete
this card. Oh I also added a few pearls to the flowers also.
For the second card I coloured the 'For you' rag doll image
the same way as the first. I chalked around the image too
( like on the first card ). Same punch used for the butterflies
& another rolled rose. Leaf punch ( MS ) one , a Chloe stem
flower ( die) & a tropical flourish Cheery Lynn die swirl too.
All then mounted onto a card base cut using my labels 20 nesties.
A few clear gems & a bit of glamour dust completes this card.
Both images are available HERE btw., both have a black &
white image & a coloured version for quickness too.
These two are a bit more 'fussy' than usual, but I hope you
 will still like them .
Another big welcome to yet another follower today, welcome aboard :)

ps.I am off for a lie down now, not feeling too great today,
a touch of vertigo me thinks !

Old pump card

Here is another DT card made for Beccy over at
'Beccy's Place'. I think she draws some lovely digi
images, pop on over and have a nosey at her other
images too. This card was made using her 'old pump'
image, available HERE. I made a get well card
 as I thought...well.......pump...get the inference  lol ??
Beccy & I both laughed at that btw.
I used some white linen card stock, then added some navy
card which has a kind of leather look to it texture wise.
That was made into a pennant shape, then I used
my nesties ( curved rectangles) to cut the main image
with. I coloured the image with Copics,Promarkers &
some coloured pencils.A bit of chalking around the
image too. A 'Janes's  script' sentiment and a
Marianne creatable die leaf completes the card.
A big welcome to all my latest followers too  & thankyou
for choosing me to follow !

ps.I have two  more DT cards to show you tomorrow.
Then I have another DT card to post very soon with a
freebie background &  some  freebie inserts for you
to use with Beccy's lovely image.
I will be making these freebies now & again for you
to use with Beccy's  lovely digi images so check
 back frequently ( wink) ;)

Shaped card

It's week 69 over at 'Less is More' & this time it's
a recipe which is.......
We have a very simple recipe this week and that is
simply to make a card which is
NOT A SQUARE
nor a rectangle for that matter.
What we're really trying to say is that we want a shaped card.
Hmm they always manage to keep our grey matter going
Chrissie and Mandi & this week is no exception !
I decided to use my  trusty nesties, ( labels 18).
I made a card using the largest shape from the set,
then I used a smaller die ( same set again ) to cut
another layer.I used a smaller die to cut the shape at the very
bottom to add more interest. I then used chalks to make
a little scene.I used my 'Create a scene' stamps for
the large tree & various 'Hobby Art Ltd'. stamps for
the grass and  hills etc. I used a mask for the sun &
added a few birds  & nests to the tree ( peer closely).
I hope you can see birds nesting in that tree :)
A few touches with various pencil crayons &
Promarkers completes the card. I popped the matt
on 3d pads for a bit of height  too.Hope there is enough
 white space now ??
ps. I managed to drop my chalks making this card & they
have mostly smashed to pieces.....many pieces!!! grrrrrr!!!
We had a nice day yesterday babysitting our grandson Alex,
he was a very good baby too.I hope you are all enjoying
the lovely sun today. I have managed to plant all my
bedding plants out at last &  make a card too.
So off for another quick sunbathe now :)
Have a lovely weekened everyone whatever you are doing.

Pink baby bib card

Another card for 'Less is More' week 68 we had to

 make a card suitable for
 a Baby or a Child
Well of course I had to make a PINK version didn't I !!!
Made the same way as the first except I added a
few pearls to the bib & two pink bows. Also a few
punched butterflies & computerized sentiment. The flower
is a stamp from 'Janes's script' set again.Tiny bit of
glamour dust yet again also !
Think I may have invented a new type of card too woohoo!
Also entering this into the 'I love Promarkers'  challenge
 ( 118 use Die cuts)
which is to use die cuts this week.I used a baby pink Promarker
to colour the edge of the bib , the butterflies & flower so
I guess it qualifies.Oh and my nesties too which are the die cuts !
Just seen this challenge too 'PanPastel UK challenge'  which is to use
Pastel Colours
so entering that also.

ps. Don't forget to check out Beccy's latest challenge for May too ,
for a chance to win some of her gorgeous digi images,
details HERE !!

Baby's bib card

Here is my third and final card for  this week's  'Less is More'
challenge. It's week 68  and we have to make a card
 suitable for
  a Baby or a Child.
I made a square card then cut a section out at the top. Then I
made a 'bib' using my nesties .Two layers, one was embossed
with the tiny hearts folder.I attached two white satin ribbons.
Sentiment from the cute elephant set ?? ( Pink petticoat),
an old one btw. I shaped the sentiment matt and added
a touch of blue around the edge. A little cute duck stamp was
added to the top part, (tiny old cheap stamp). A bit of glamour
dust around the bib and the duck completes this card.I think
this is more LIM than the other cards I made this week too,
I hope you like it :)
ps. Summer has arrived and the sun is shining at long last, I am
going outside to have a quick sunbathe :)

Silver fairy card

Another card for 'Less is More' again. It's week 68
and the theme is to make a card suitable for
a Baby or a Child

I made this cute card the other day as I wanted to use my
new memory box die ( Jasmine).I hope it's CAS enough for
the LIM challenge?? I am making another one with a baby
theme next & that IS more LIM :)
I used another 'Wee stamps' digi image again, this one is
called Silver fairy, isn't she soooo sweet. I coloured her using
Copics & Promarkers as usual. Then I used my square
nesties to cut the main matt & distress the edges. I chalked
the edge of the next matt layer and used  a matching Copic
to edge the last matt.I attached the memory box die stems
after first cutting the bottom part off . I attached another new
die to the corner edge ( Cheery Lynn lace corner), part of
a set of three. A few flowers and leaves which I stamped
then cut and coloured from my Jane's script set where then
added. A few matching pearls and  the usual glamour dust
completes the card.I think any little girl would love to have
 this card....well I know I would anyway lol !

ps. Sorry for the erratic typing look on the last  post , I
was getting to grips with my new blog layout & things
had changed. We are off to babysit our youngest grandson
Alex again on Friday, while mum has a nice pampering day
  can't wait :)

Sweet Blossom card

It's week 68  over at 'Less is More' and this time
it's theme week which is to make a card for
 a Baby or  a Child
I had already made this card in the last few days ....just because!
so I hope it's LIM enough?? I used a 'Sweet blossom' digi image from
Wee Stamps , I think it's soooo cute. I coloured it using Copics &
Promarkers and added a bit of glamour dust and soft chalking
around the image.I layered the image with other matts but kept
them simple with just a touch of distress inking around the edges .
A 'Jane's script' stamped sentiment and a cut down memory box
die for the stem. A few punched butterflies & gems completes
this card. Yes PINK again I know but I did add a few touches
of lilac too :) I think this card would be suitable for a little girl.

ps. I hope you like my new look blog, time for a change I thought.

pps .My eldest son was on live tv via the internet last night,
so exciting!!! ...he plays bass guitar for the group Magoo.
It was part of BBC radio Norfolk shown on Epic-tv.com,
( BBC music festival video).
Hope they sell more cd's now, they have appeared on
the BBC John Peel show seven times in the past also.

Old Mailbox card

Here is  another DT card made for Beccy over at
'Beccy's Place'. Yet another great image again by
Beccy, available HERE .I think it would be great
for masculine cards but it's also quite versatile &
could be used  for several occasions.
I chose to use this computerized  sentiment which
I think could  be finished inside with any number
of quotes. I coloured the image with Copics &
Promarkers & made another matt using some gold
pearlized card. A little gem coloured to match
completes this card.Still quite a CAS card I think, it's
hard for me to make cards which have lots on them lol.
ps. My blog may look a little different soon I hope,
some changes being made which I hope you will
 all like :)

Tuesday 15 May 2012

Blueberry scones, compote & some yummy biscuits

Just made these scrummy blueberry scones and some blueberry compote
to go with them. Also more of the maple syrup, peanut and raisin biscuits
we both love so much....and my children lol ! I got the recipe from Pinterest
but I changed them a bit too. I bet you are all feeling hungry now so just help
yourself to a few :) I posted the recipe for the biscuits earlier I think, will post
the recipe for the scones if anyone wants but they are just scones made with cream
instead of milk and fresh blueberries. The compote was easy to make too, I made
it while the scones were cooking. Not tried the scones yet but they smell divine.
Having said that I just showed my son and he said I had better bring them with
me when we see him  tomorrow lol. We will sneak a couple of scones for afternoon
tea today though with a nice cup of early grey tea.......shhhhhh don't tell !

ps. Excuse the tatty baking parchment I reuse it constantly when I make these biscuits,
& the scones were too delicate to move just then :)

                                                                           hugs

Grandpa's barn card

Here is another DT card made for Beccy over at 'Beccy's Place'.
This card was made using Beccy's 'Grandpa's Barn' digi image,
available HERE..I used various distress inks on this card as I felt
I wanted a more  'aged'  look to the card. I used my rectangle
nesties to cut the main image after printing out. Then I used
'antique linen' DI, for the edging,'peeled paint' DI for the trees
& a few touches using  Copics & Promarkers. I layered the main
image on another white matt for dimension. The sentiment was
computer generated and I used a bit of DI on that too, then
popped it up on 3d pads.I used my rectangle nesties to cut the
label.I first cut a small piece of card then cut one side. Then
putting it through again on the other side I managed to cut
a tiny label. So in other words I only cut one side at a time .
That's just some info in case you haven't used your nesties for
cutting small pieces of card this way :) Hope you like the
 finished card.
ps. More news on my brother, the cancer is slow growing &
only small so he can wait for an op for a while. His heart
problems are causing him the breathing trouble not his lungs. So
they hope to sort that out so he is strong enough to have the op
at a later date.So better news than we at first thought which is
more positive.
Also I got my £50 back I had 'lost' yaaaaahhhhhh!!!! it seems
I did leave it in the cash machine and some kind lady ( angel)
handed it into the shop. :)

Just peeking card

Here is another card for the 'Less is More' challenge again.
It's  week 67 and one layer card week ( oh my!) and we have to...
                              USE THREE STAMPS
I used a BOBEA digi image which happens to have three stamps
in the set. I made a distressed ink ( Antique Linen) panel using
masks to cover the images. I also embossed a couple of lines
either side of the inked panel too.I then coloured the  animals
using Copics/Promarkers.I love the cute expressions on these little
animals.
Today I did something a bit silly.....well a LOT silly !!! I managed
to lose £50!!! I withdrew it from a cash machine outside
Waitrose then went inside shopping. I realised I didn't have the
money when I came to pay ( luckily I still had enough cash in
my pocket). So I either left it in the cash machine( horror of
horrors) or I lost it once inside the shop. The shop haven't found
it and it wasn't in the machine when I looked shortly afterwards.
My OH said it probably went to someone who really NEEDED
it today. I hope that's the case too, really feel so stupid now. I
have my brother on my mind today as he finds out tomorrow if
he can have the op he needs or if he is just too unwell ( because of his
breathing) to have it.We already know he is at high risk even if does
have it....but he may have no choice really.
That's why my mind was elsewhere I think....either that or I am
really losing my mind!!!
ps. Updated to add I DID get my money back ! I left it in the cash
machine and some kind lady ( angel) handed it in  to the shop nearby :)

Floral thankyou card

It's week 67 over at 'Less is More' & it's the
dreaded one layer card week again. We have to
                Use three stamps
Hmmm I am not a great fan of one layer cards
& I wasted a lot of card this time trying to make
a suitable card. However I did come up with this
one after a while, not that happy with it but it will
have to do for now. I have another idea now so
will do that later in the week :)
I used a floral and a bird stamp from a set I have
by Kanban called Peacock as it also has a large
peacock in the set too. The sentiment was a 'Jane's
script' stamp again, I often use that set as I find it
stamps more sharply than others I have in various
sets of stamps. Saying that it didn't stamp so well
this time in this lavender ( Color Box) ink I used
grrr! I used some pink ( ink it up) ink and a little
green Promarker on the leaves over the top to
stamp the flower trail. I used lavender ( Color Box)
ink on the bird stamp. I coloured the bird using
various Prisma pencils and also shaded the
flowers with pink pencils too.I cut the card shape
using my nesties (curved rectangles ) btw. Hmmm
still not happy but hope it grows on me.
The sun is shining today, how lovely that is for a
change,I do hope you all have a lovely weekend.
We are babysitting for our grandson Charlie again
next week then Alex the week after......how lucky
 am I :)

Owl trio card

Here is another DT card made for Beccy over at Beccy's Place.
This time her digi is called 'Owl Trio' & what a sweet image it is.
I can think of many sentiments which would go so well with this
image but decided on this one for today.
I printed the image direct to card then I masked off a section of
the card and used some DI ( faded jeans) on the strip. That was
after first using a mask for the moon too. I swiped  the ink over
& tried to leave an uneven textured finish. I then printed more
owls and cut them out to decoupage them. I coloured them with
Promarkers & pencil crayons for texture.I coloured the ones
behind in a darker colour so they would stand out more. A few
bits of white flowersoft on the owls chest area & a computerized
sentiment completes the card. You would have laughed if you
could have seen how I tried to hold the two card masks ( for the
blue part), the moon part mask and the three owls masks all at
the same time while swiping the DI over it all. I never stick them
down or use post it notes for that part................not sure why
but I don't....anyway it did work.Note to self ( use post it notes
 woman !!!!!).
The sun is shining today,....oh yes!... after all this rain I can't
believe it. I even had to ask my OH what that big yellow thing
was in the sky today!
Have a good day everyone whatever you are doing. Also a big
welcome to my latest followers too :)

Heaven bound set

Here are another  two DT cards made for Beccy over at
'Beccy's Place'. These two images are called 'Heaven bound '
 and both are available HERE.
I decided to use them as sympathy cards for the loss of a pet.
Although they can be used for other cards too, even
Christmas ones. Visit Beccy's blog to see the other cards there.
The first card  I made was using her 'Heaven bound dog' image.
I used Copics/Promarkers to colour it and did some soft
chalking behind the image.I added a bit of glamour dust around
the halo and wings .I also added a few hand drawn paw prints &
a bit of shadow on the main image too. A computerized sentiment
& a few embossed lines completes the card.
The second card was made using Beccy's 'Heaven bound cat'
image. I used my rectangles nesties to cut the image & coloured
it with Copics/Promarkers again & did some chalking around the
image. I also added an  embossed  panel with little birds on ( birds
& swirls?) which I thought went with the cat image :) A
computerized sentiment & a few gems completes the card.
Hope you like these cute images, they can also be made to look
'happy' too if you add a line making a smile on them as Beccy
found out.Check out Beccy's other digi images, she has some lovely
 ones there.
ps. I hope you like my new image of my cheeky grandson Charlie too, ....his
surprised look I think :)

Yellow little scene card

Another card for 'Less is More' again. It's week 66 &
a colour theme this time which is......
                                Yellow
I tried to resist making another card, but in the end
just couldn't resist another bash at a little scene card
using distress inks. I love how Chrissie does them, I
keep trying but never quite get there I feel, still one
 always hopes to improve :)
I used a circle mask and mustard seed DI, dusting
with my cheap mens shaving brush ( needs must).
I then stamped various trees/shrubs, grasses in
vintage sepia for a softer brown colour instead of my
 usual black.
I used another smaller circle mask for the sun & added
a few distant mountains and birds freehand. You may
have to look hard to see those distant mountains but
I assure you they are there lol.I added another matt
behind  the main image using the same DI. I also used
the same sepia ink to stamp a sentiment too ( Jane's script ).
Job done :)
It's a very rainy gloomy day here today. I hope you
are having nicer weather wherever you are atm. & that
my  bright yellow card has cheered you all up.

New baby cards

I made the first card for my lovely niece who has just had a
little boy called Benjamin.I used a cute TEDDYBOBEA_87
digi image, from the teddybo.com site, look under bits and bobs
store there.(I  added more details after people asked me where
 it was from).
Image coloured with Copics and Promarkers.I precoloured the
image apart from the bow & head piece so I only had to add
either blue or pink to it when the baby arrived. I added a bit
of embossing, pearls and some cute baby shoes too.
The second card was for her parents who are now grandparents
for the first time. I made the card similar to the first one but without
the embossing and the baby shoes. I added a leaf swirl too,
( Marianne creatable). Both cards are A5 size for a change too btw.
Hope you like them, I do love making baby cards :)
A very big welcome to all my latest followers . May I just also
add how touched I have been for all the support from you lovely
ladies over my recent troubles, you are all amazing....thankyou !

Purple 'Sweet peas' card

Here is another DT card made for 'Beccy's Place' again.
It's made using her gorgeous 'Sweet peas' digi image,
available HERE.
I coloured it using Copics & Promarkers &  a little
pencil crayon too. Some soft chalking in green around
the image too.I used nesties to cut the main image out,
then another matt using a purple layer. The fancy scrolls
are from a 'Fleur de lis motifs' set . I chalked those also.
A 'Jane's script' stamp & a rounded off corner completes
 the card.
A big welcome to all my latest followers too btw. :)

Saturday 5 May 2012

Yellow Tulips card

It's week 66 and a colour challenge this time over at
'Less is More'  which is.............
                                     Yellow
I made a card using one of the lovely digi images from
'Beccy's Place' again. This time I coloured the tulips in
yellow. I 3d'd some of the petals and punched a butterfly
& glittered those also.  A bit of yellow chalking around
the main image & a printed sentiment  (from a Bold
Botanicals set).I hope the yellow colour brightens your day:)

It's been a very busy week again, not a brilliant one either.
We learned that my  brother also has bowel cancer,
( my other brother died last month from it too). Not sure
they can operate as he has heart & breathing problems.
As we have just put our house on the market this week,
it's been a very stressful time. I have just received a massive
bouquet of flowers from a good friend today.....how lovely
of her to think of me.
